Walk to Work Day 2019: Walks to try in the Cambridge Norwich Tech Corridor
Cambridge and Norwich lead the way in healthy commuting
A Department of Transport report reveals that around 11% of UK adults walk to work and only 4% cycle to work (these figures have remained broadly stable over the past ten years). However, there are wide variations across the country. We’re delighted to report that Norwich leads the way for people walking to work (24.8%) and Cambridge is tops for people cycling to work (32.5%) but there is always scope to do more!
Today marks National Walk to Work Day, and to celebrate we’re encouraging businesses to get out and about in the Cambridge Norwich Tech Corridor.
As we’ve discovered this week, walking can be good for your productivity, as well as boosting your health and well-being. If you fancy taking a stroll here are some of the region’s favourite walks and routes.
Join a 'netwalk'
As the name suggests, netwalking is a bit like networking. But instead of standing around drinking coffee and making awkward smalltalk, netwalking allows you to mingle on the move, and enjoy conversation with like-minded folk while out enjoying the countryside.
Here are some of the netwalking initiatives that regularly take place in the Tech Corridor. If you know of a netwalk which isn’t listed here, let us know on Twitter and we’ll add it to our list.

Your favourite walks
We asked businesses in the Tech Corridor to send us their favourite walks to work or walks at work. Where’s your favourite place for walking to work? Tweet us your pictures and join the conversation @TechCorridorUK – using the hashtag #TechCorridorWalks.
The gardens at the beautiful @NorwichCastle are great and a wander though to the brilliant market is a favourite for food. We also love a bit of a team lunch on the steps outside the @TheForumNorwich on a hot day. Spoilt for choice!

Chapelfield gardens is our favourite spot for walking meetings! But then we are right opposite so we might be a little bit biased… pic.twitter.com/KRigG8uK8Z

If you like to multi-task, you can always combine your walking with some gaming. Gotta catch ’em all.
Its another good excuse for @PokemonGoApp too! I think the Exeter office beats the Norwich one for most scenic walks from the office door though. Maybe we should have a competition! https://t.co/APanp40EoH

And if you venture out on a lunchtime walk later, you never know who you might come across:
